Because of how quickly you all smashed through stretch goals, we already have the 4th, bonus artwork for the Silver Blood Deluxe Edition by the brilliant Uwe Jarling! The Waypoint loomed a hundred feet in front of me.

I’m not going to make it in time.

The realization hit me like a proverbial punch to the gut, just as a solid black object appeared out of nowhere and literally punched me in the gut.

A winged horse with wickedly curled horns and a demonic pointed tail materialized before me like a phantom. Using its muscular shoulder to ram me in the middle, it hoisted my doubled-over body across its broad back. Before I’d even had a chance to catch the breath it had knocked from me, the Pegasus’ colossal wings unfurled, lifting us off the ground.

My clawing fingers scrambled for purchase on the creature’s slick, onyx scales, eventually seizing the strap of a ratty brown backpack slung from the base of the creature’s wings.

“Bréta!” I choked out, clinging to the bag for dear life as his wings beat at the air, propelling us forward with unmatched speed.

The creature turned to look at me over his shoulder, its glowing red eyes crinkling in what I could have sworn was a smile.

With that semi-encouraging signal, I kicked my right leg over Bréta’s back and used the straps as reins as we soared across the blue grasses of the prairie.

Ten feet.

With one hand clutching the makeshift reins of Bréta’s backpack for dear life, I leaned to the side and stretched out my other arm, fingers straining for the Waypoint. There was still time to get there. Still time to prevent Talia from entering the Fae Realm.

Hooves thundered across the grass. Bréta had once more touched ground, his wings flaring and front legs flailing as he reared to a stop just ahead of the Waypoint. I leapt off his back, casting him one last grateful look and offering up a fervent, silent prayer that we would see one another again, then clapped my palm against the cool metal of the lamppost.

The Waypoint’s runes burst to life beneath my touch.

As purple fire exploded all around me, consuming my entire body, my thoughts refocused on one, singular prayer:

Please let me get there in time.

But even as the words echoed between what used to be my ears, I already knew: our two worlds were colliding, whether I wanted them to or not.
