Jaw-dropping review! 😱

𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁.

Superb writing? Check.

Engrossing plot? Check.

Unique and dynamic characters? Check.

Tasteful blend of action and romance? Check.

Rener’s use of stylistic and incredibly emotive writing enables the reader to completely immerse themselves into the story. There wasn’t a moment where I considered putting this book down. Unlike most other cliché romance novels, the protagonist, Aspen, is resourceful, powerful, intelligent, and has an unwavering zeal to recover her past identity. The pursuit of her lost memories inevitably leads her into the lion’s den of a villainous organization, which is much more than she had ever bargained for.

Along the way, we meet unique characters that seek to aid Aspen in her quest, and those who aim to stop her. Even as the romantic interest is integrated into the story, they do not cause the plot to diverge and lose the luster that is prevalent from the very first chapter of the book. The story follows Aspen’s trials to wield her previously unknown elemental powers, and I especially enjoyed the author’s distinctive concept of how each individual inherits and uses their powers: it’s a refreshing breath of air compared to what has already been horrendously overused.

The author has crafted a tale that is centered around fantasy and realistic applications of science alike, in way that hasn’t been done before. The aspects of this sensational story are perfectly balanced. One can view it with a sense of rapture, as you can imagine yourself sitting in the local diner where the protagonist works, just as much as you can imagine her quite literally pulling lightning out of the sky. The author’s colorful and descriptive words are captivating, and you feel as if you know the characters personally. A writer’s ability to engage the reader in a holistic way, without the use of excessive and commonplace themes, shines a vivid light on their potential—Rener’s capability shines brighter than a supernova, and The Lightening Conjurer: The Awakening is tangible proof.

This author is one to watch. Much like lightening, you’ll never know what she’ll do next. However, I would go as far and beyond to say that her writing prowess is striking. And yes—the sentiment and pun are both wholeheartedly intended.
